1. How many plates fit on a barbell?
Thanks to their slim profile, our Iron Plates can be loaded in high numbers. On a Sigma barbell with 415 mm sleeves, you can load 11 × 20 kg plates per side—totaling 460 kg. Even a full 205 kg set fits easily.
2. What are the weight plates made of, and how durable are they?
We use spheroidal graphite cast iron—also common in automotive parts, gears, and machine frames. Cast in class 30, it offers high tensile strength and corrosion resistance. A protective coating adds long-term rust protection.
3. What advantages do cast iron plates have?
Cast iron/steel: Classic, durable, and cost-effective. Their thin profile saves space and allows more plates per bar, making them ideal for heavy lifting.
4. How do I keep my weight plates in top condition?
Cast iron: Wipe off dust and sweat. For light rust, use vinegar, then apply oil or rust protection.
Rubber/plastic-coated: Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry before storage.
